Types of implant:
Full Mouth Implants
This method has completely transformed our ability to change a full mouth of teeth, and we now able to install fixed teeth the same day that the implants are placed. This is an enormous advantage to patients, and significantly reduces the time of the procedure, and minimises pain and stress compared to traditional methods.
We start by planning out the procedure, starting with a scan to examine the patient and find the best location to install 4 dental implants. The speed of the task has also advanced greatly, and patients with hardly any or no teeth can walk away with a full mouth implant or non permanent bridge in a single day. The non-permanent bridge is then substituted with a long term one after 3-4 months.
Multiple Tooth Implants
Multiple tooth implants are used for patients with several missing teeth lacking, which can cause significant issues such as not being able to chew up food properly. This may cause real stress in day-today life. Exchanging these with implants can remove any nervousness around a moving denture. We are often in a position to implant a bridge attached to the implants if the lacking teeth are around the same area, as the image below demonstrates.
Single Tooth Implants
When a single tooth is lacking, an implant is often the best solution. Implants are usually more robust and more durable that other available choices, and do not have issues live slipping or influencing speech like dentures often have. Additionally, the bone surrounding the implant becomes supported by the implant, protecting against further resorption and teeth on each side do not have any additional loading that could cause issues in the future.
