Types of implant:
Full Mouth Implants
This technique has totally improved our ability to improve a full mouth of teeth, and we now have the ability to install set teeth the same day that the implants are placed. This is a huge advantage to patients, and significantly reduces the length of the operation, and minimises pain and stress compared to alternative methods.
We start by planning out the operation, starting with a scan to examine the patient and find the best place to install 4 dental implants. The speed of the task has also improved greatly, and patients with very few or no teeth can walk away with a full mouth implant or temporary bridge on the same day. The non-permanent bridge is then substituted with a long term one after 3-4 months.
Multiple Tooth Implants
Multiple tooth implants are being used for patients with several missing teeth lacking, which can cause significant issues such as not being able to chew up food properly. This can cause real stress in day-today life. Swapping these with implants can remove any nervousness around a moving denture. We are often able to implant a bridge to the implants if the lacking teeth are around the same area, as the image below demonstrates.
Single Tooth Implants
When only one tooth is lacking, an implant is often the best answer. Implants are usually stronger and more durable that other available choices, and do not have issues live moving or affecting speech like dentures frequently have. Additionally, the bone around the implant becomes supported by the implant, avoiding further resorption and teeth on each side do not have any additional loading that could cause issues in the future.
