Types of implant:
This technique has completely transformed our ability to improve a full mouth of teeth, and we now have the ability to install set teeth the same day that the implants are placed. This is a great advantage to patients, and significantly reduces the time of the procedure, and minimises pain and stress in comparison to traditional methods.
We start by planning out the procedure, starting with a scan to review the patient and find the best location to install 4 dental implants. The time of the procedure has also decreased greatly, and patients with very few or no teeth can leave with a complete mouth implant or temporary bridge in a single day. The temporary bridge is then substituted with a long term one after 3-4 months.
Multiple Tooth Implants
Multiple tooth implants are being used for patients with several missing teeth lacking, which can cause significant issues such as not being able to chew up food properly. This can cause real stress in day-today life. Changing these with implants can remove any anxiety around a moving denture. We are often in a position to implant a bridge to the implants if the lacking teeth are around the same area, as the image below demonstrates.
Single Tooth Implants
When a single tooth is lacking, an implant is usually the best solution. Implants are usually more robust and longer lasting that other available choices, and do not have issues live slipping or impacting speech like dentures frequently have. Additionally, the bone around the implant becomes supported by the implant, preventing further resorption and teeth on each side do not have any additional loading that could cause issues in the future.
